Getting there:
While most Italian national parks are centred on the high mountains of the Alps and the Appennins, Circeo is a coastal wilderness on the west coast half way between Rome and Naples. Located 80 km (65 miles) south of Rome, the Circeo National Park takes its name from Circe, the sorceress who bewitched Ulysses in Homer’s Odyssey. The legend tells that she should now lives in one of the forty-four caves accessible only via water.

The Circeo National Park is easily reached from the north by taking the SS 148, the Pontina Road from Rome and driving south, after Latina. Coming from the south, you take the Domiziana Road, and after Gaeta, the Via Flacca SS 213, will take you to Sperlonga first, then Terracina and San Felice Circeo at the door of the park.
