| Villa Fogliano’s old exotic garden
An enchanting and interesting part of the Villa is its Botanical Garden arranged at the end of the XIX century for the will of Ada Wilbraham, wife of Onorato Caetani. She used to love exotic species, like the palms and since the beginning shaped the garden with several exotic species. Passing by the multi-color flowered paths, visitors can admire little woods of tall bamboo, parkland of pine forests and ilex woods up to the extreme northern border of the Park, where there is a dreamy and magical corner, protected by the shadows of the trees.

Since the 1920s on, the Caetani family dedicated themselves to the care of Ninfa’s gardens, thus neglecting the property in Fogliano. Surprisingly a spontaneous process of naturalization commenced creating a unique green habitat, with Mediterranean species such as holm-oak, palmet, laurel cohabiting mixed to exotic species (palms, eucalyptuses, araucarias).

The romantic garden of Villa Fogliano |
Today visitors can admire a really extraordinary environment, the result of a forunate coincidence, in which species of different climates meet and merge with a very suggestive result. The fascination of the garden lies also in many old , romantic stories, reminiscences of love stories and ardent passions which seduced men and women that lived here in Villa Fogliano during the golden age of the 18th century hedonism. Today, the complex of Villa and Borgo di Fogliano houses an Environmental Education Centre, the Ornithological Museum and the Literary Park of Homer.
